Notes from a tour manager – The ultimate reception in Philadelphia

18 Oct, 2011

The Creole Choir of Cuba’s reception in Philadelphia has been terrific.

This city has been waiting to see the Choir since January, and our concert last night at the Painted Bride was what they had been waiting for.

This morning’s visit to the Independence Charter School was a great success. First a group of second graders and then a group of fifth graders, laughing and crying and dancing and singing with the Choir.

At the workshop for professional singers at the Painted bride Theatre this evening the Creole Choir of Cuba received a Citation from the City of Philadelphia. See the photos below!

We have a packed day tomorrow. We are off to Washington at 07.30 tomorrow morning.

1.00 pm Haiti Embassy reception
3.00pm NPR Tiny Desk
3.30ish NPR Tell Me More

  1. Hello! We met you at the WOMAD in New Zealand this past March…and we so blown away by your music (fortunately, we picked up your CD at the WOMAD store before they packed up at the end of the festival!)… We live in the Santa Cruz area, and would like to offer that if you and the group need a place to stay for the day(s) before/after your Santa Cruz show, we’d be happy to offer….we have a separate house available for you next door to our own, with private 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, kitchen, laundry. No TV, but you can come over to our house and use our WiFi. We’re about 20 minutes from downtown Santa Cruz, so it’s quiet and rural – and, the pool is still warm! You can contact us via email at or call me, Haley: 831-336-0304. In any case, we’ll see you at your Santa Cruz show – so glad you’re coming to town! All the best, Haley & Bob Brozman
